The images below show Ron's campaign medal, awarded for his service during the Second World War. This particular medal is the 'War Medal 1939-1945', a campaign medal which was introduced by the government of the United Kingdom on 16th August 1945. The medal seen below was intended to be an award for citizens of the British Commonwealth who had served full time in the armed forces or the Merchant Navy, for at least 28 days between 3rd September 1939 and 2nd September 1945.
